User Reviews

User reviews consistently praise Adept Roll for its extensive profile database, quick comparisons, and tools that streamline combat math and list-building. They also appreciate easy-to-use interfaces and saving profiles, plus active development. The most recurrent drawbacks are subscription cost and debates over value, usability concerns/learning curve, notable feature gaps (leaders, melee, multiple attackers), incomplete faction coverage, and reports of bugs or uneven support. Overall, strong potential with ongoing improvements but pricing and missing features remain barriers for some users.
Pros
  • Extensive database of weapon and unit profiles with quick comparison.
  • Simplifies combat math and list-building, aiding planning.
  • Easy to use with clear stats and output charts.
  • Active development and responsive, engaged support from the developers.
  • Ability to save unit profiles and test scenarios for planning.
Cons
  • Subscription pricing is a mix: some find value, others see it as a barrier.
  • Not intuitive or has a steep learning curve, especially compared to the website.
  • Missing or limited features like attaching leaders, melee support, and multiple attackers.
  • Incomplete faction coverage and stale data for certain factions (e.g., Chaos) or no preloaded profiles.
  • Bugs and inconsistent support: frequent errors and reports of little developer assistance.

Awesome app. Lets you quickly and easily test out scenarios to see what works and what is ineffective. Highly recommend to any serious 40k player!

I did not find the app very intuitive, it was difficult for me to get the units and weapon profiles loaded in the way I needed them too, and if there is a way to attach leaders to units I never figured it out. I hated the import mechanics of having to load in either some or all of a specific faction to make selections, specifically to load them on the defensive end (ie enemy factions that I don’t play regularly). Paid for the first year, have unsubscribed now though. Good potential… may return in a year or two and see if its more streamlined/ intuitive.
