User Reviews

PilotLOG historically praised for seamless auto import from airline systems and ACARS/ADS-B, strong data integration, and a user-friendly interface. Customers highlight quick, competent support and reasonable pricing. However, recurring issues include suspension of roster imports and ongoing sync/import failures, especially across mobile/desktop, causing manual data entry. Post-update bugs (scrolling, crashes, missing flights) hurt reliability. Printing/exporting limitations and Mac compatibility problems are frequently noted. Several long-time users feel misled by licensing changes and feature removals, fueling frustration. Overall, when functioning, the app is powerful and time-saving, but reliability and support gaps have driven significant dissatisfaction.
Pros
  • Auto import from ACARS/ADS-B and airline systems reduces manual data entry
  • Excellent customer support and responsive staff
  • Strong data integration with airlines and roster systems
  • User-friendly interface and ease of use
  • Reasonable pricing and good value
Cons
  • Roster import/sync suspended and ongoing import failures force manual data entry
  • Post-update bugs and stability issues (e.g., scrolling bug, crashes, missing flights)
  • Sync issues across mobile and desktop, with data inconsistencies and missing flights
  • Printing/exporting limitations and Mac compatibility problems
  • Frustration with licensing changes and perceived poor business practices

Five years ago, this was the best logbook out there. I researched them all and tried many. Roster import was phenomenal, logbook formatting for interview printing was great, the ability to parse flight times from ACARS OOOI, and night/xc/IFR calculations adjusted for local times. Something happened about 2 years ago. I am at my third airline, all have used different interfaces. I was able to import my trips for almost 2 months then summer of 2024 it just…stopped. Mid-trip and I couldn’t sync updated data. With no notice they “suspended all imports.” No apology. No help. They have never re-implemented the feature. The only ‘solution’ was to curtly inform me they just decided to stop and will never reinstate it, and for my troubles they would prorate my 5 year software license (but only if I canceled abs therefore lost my ability to continue logging). Still upsets me to this day. I am still using the app out of spite because I have some months left on the license, but after the end of this year it expires and I am not renewing. It is arduous to manually create every pilot profile, every tail number, manually create every flight, add the OOOI times. The app doesn’t remember pairing numbers when I build a return leg. Frequently saves my local times as Zulu times, but not for every OOOI block. The ACARS capture never works anymore. I take a picture which has the times very clear but it always fails “no IN time” or some nonense even though OOOI is all there. Manual roster import has never worked. I have tried logging in via their API screen. I have tried screenshots of my trip sheets. I have tried PDF imports via the manual tab. Always hangs at 75% and “no flights found.” I don’t know how much clearer the trip sheet could be. It literally has times, flight numbers, city pairs, etc. The whole point of paying, was to make this simple and automated. It is not. It is tedious. Erroneous. Constantly have to correct the app’s incorrect info. If the app was free, it wouldn’t be a big deal. But the broken features, removal of features, and the “oh well it sucks to be you” attitude from this company is maddening. All around the time Aviobook acquired PILOTLOG.
