User Reviews

DoubleTake offers a compelling dual-camera feature set and strong video quality, with the ability to save two separate camera streams for flexible editing. However, user reviews repeatedly highlight major reliability and cost issues: frequent crashes and freezes that interrupt recording, and occasional failure to save or start recordings. Many also report compatibility problems after iOS updates, with the app not opening on several devices. Audio performance is inconsistent, and the subscription model with refunds concerns compounds frustration. Overall, the concept is powerful, but stability and pricing problems significantly undermine the experience.
Pros
  • Dual-camera recording lets you capture two separate videos at once for creative multi-angle editing.
  • Versatile and high-quality video output.
  • Saves two separate video files (one per camera) for flexible editing.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability that cause loss of footage and interrupted recording.
  • Subscription pricing and refund issues (forced plans, charges, difficulties getting refunds).
  • Compatibility issues: app won’t open or run after updates and on newer iPhones/iOS.
  • Audio problems: inconsistent sync and low-quality sound.
  • Camera/orientation and other recording bugs (e.g., upside-down selfies, glitches) that affect reliability.

I like some features of this app, including the ability to film two separate videos at the same time from the two cameras, not picturing picture, but do you completely different videos that you could edit into picture and picture if you want. Unfortunately if you don’t go through the perfect sequence of events to set it up with the proper angle view and the proper formatting, and then the proper resolution inevitably it crashes mid filming and you lose everything. Very frustrating.
