User Reviews

Overall sentiment mix: users praise the sturdy hardware and occasional app usefulness for reminders and plant care, and appreciate growing fresh produce at home. However, repeated issues dominate: a costly subscription paywall that locks core features, frequent connectivity and pairing problems that leave devices offline, and unreliable app performance (crashes, missed reminders, tasks not registering). The result is a hardware-first experience with escalating ongoing costs and uneven app value, leading many to question long-term ownership.
Pros
  • Solid, well-designed hardware that forms the basis of the Gardyn system.
  • The app provides practical plant-care features like watering reminders and schedules when it’s functioning.
  • Ability to grow fresh produce at home and reduce trips to the store.
Cons
  • Core app features and reminders are frequently locked behind a high-cost subscription paywall.
  • Connectivity and reliability issues: devices disconnect from Wi-Fi, pairing fails, and the app crashes or freezes.
  • Reminders and tasks often don’t register or update, diminishing the value of the app.
  • High upfront hardware cost plus ongoing subscription costs raise concerns about overall value.

I bought the Gardyn as a birthday present to myself and since, I have come to absolutely LOATH this company. The pricing is 1000% misleading. After spending $600 for a plastic tub, you expect us to pay $30/month with a two year commitment (that’s $700 people!!!) to keep it going? To be clear when you first buy the Gardyn, they give you two weeks of access to “Kelby” the “ai” assistant that tells you when to water, trim, etc. Yet the app never publicly lists any kind of subscription costs. The actual cost is over $30/month unless you sign a multi-year deal which more than doubles the cost. This is misleading marketing at its worst. The only green you’ll be seeing is the $$$ you constantly throw away to keep this POS going.

I have had my unit for about a month growing is easy enough and I am currently harvesting so thats been awesome flavor is good fresh the only drawback is the expense at this point not sure its cost affective I don’t like that you need to purchase PVC caps that are way over priced I think that should all come with the initial purchase then only pay for replacement or additional items
