User Reviews

Pros include strong sounds, a polished grid interface, flexible grid controls, and good value; cons focus on missing MIDI/DAW support, copycat perception, ad-heavy updates, reliability issues, and limited synthesis controls. Overall, the app is appealing for casual play at a low price but falls short for users needing DAW integration and advanced synthesis features.
Pros
  • High-quality sounds and samples (e.g., oboe and piano) overall.
  • Nicely designed grid keyboard/interface.
  • Flexible play surface with columns/rows and mono/poly options.
  • No in-app purchases, offering a straightforward out-of-the-box experience.
  • Good value for the price.
Cons
  • No MIDI/DAW integration (no AUv3 or IAA).
  • Widely perceived as a GeoShred knockoff or bootleg, raising originality concerns.
  • Ad-heavy updates; increased ads in the GUI disrupt usability.
  • Reliability issues and bugs (notes sometimes silent, occasional pitch modulation, silent app after Try Free).
  • Limited synthesis controls and lack of guidance/manual (no deep sound control, few advanced features).

What can one say? It’s not GeoSynth. It’s too similar, but inferior, & it’s no coincidence.

I see other reviewers saying this app is a knock off of GeoShred but I’m not sure what their point is. Yes, it has “shred” in the name but it’s also a good app in its own right and should be judged independently. The grid keyboard layout is nicely done (and did not originate with GeoShred, by the way) and it works fine, and many of the sounds are quite good. The oboe certainly sounds nice and I like the piano as well. I just wish MIDI would be added.
