User Reviews
Pros
- Allows using one iPhone/phone as a remote to control the camera on another device.
- Easy two-device pairing/setup.
- Useful for remote shooting in hard-to-reach locations or discreet pet monitoring.
- Supports both photo and video capture on at least some device configurations.
- Simple, clean UI/look that feels easy to use.
Cons
- Significant lag between the remote and camera (sometimes up to a minute).
- Connection frequently drops or is lost even on a strong Wi-Fi network.
- Unreliable pairing or disconnects when switching apps; compatibility issues with older iOS versions.
- Video mode is not reliably available/functional; at best photos only on many setups.
- Documentation and support are lacking (no in-app guidance; support routes mentioned).
Recent reviews
I tried this app out because I wanted to use my phone as a remote to take pictures with my iPad. Like other reviewers have said, there's a significant lag, which is a little annoying but I could live with. The bigger issue is that the connection between the two devices is constantly getting lost, despite a strong wifi connection on the same network. Each time the connection is lost, one of us would have to get up, get everything set up again, then re-pose, only for the same thing to happen a few seconds later. Ultimately gave up and deleted.

This app has helped me several times when I needed a remote camera in a location nearby that I could not get to myself, or if I needed to discreetly watch my pets. You just have to install the app on two phones and then pair them; one is your camera, and the other is the remote. One feature that I wish the developer would add is this: on the remote phone, if I switch to a different app, when I switch back to the PairCamera app, it seems to have lost the connection. I would like for it to maintain the connection if possible. I am using iPhone 12’s.
