User Reviews

Overall, reviewers say the dash cam hardware is solid, with many noting the camera itself is great. The main problem is the Kenwood Dash Cam Manager app, described as unreliable and hard to use. The most common issues are difficulty connecting to the dash cam, frequent dropouts, and very slow or failed video playback/download even after pairing. Users also report a clunky, outdated UI and conflicting network requirements (disabling cellular data or Wi‑Fi to access the device). A few customers are satisfied when it works, but updates seem scarce.
Pros
  • Dash cam hardware is praised; the camera itself is described as great/excellent.
  • Some reviewers report satisfaction with the products and the app when it connects.
  • Some buyers are satisfied with the product lineup (e.g., two-camera kits) and the app when it works.
Cons
  • Unreliable connectivity: frequent difficulty connecting to the dash cam or staying connected with the iPhone.
  • Video playback/download is slow or often fails to play after pairing.
  • App UI/UX is outdated and clunky, with poor responsiveness.
  • Network management requirements are confusing: users must disable cellular data or avoid multiple Wi-Fi networks to access the dash cam.
  • Limited app updates and support, with persistent issues reported over time.

This camera is trash and the app is as well. $150 for the camera I’ve had 3 years and never should have kept it.

I’ve been trying to get this thing to work for two weeks one thing I found out, when you have your cellular phone, our car uses cellular service for emergency, calls, and navigation things like that, it’s using the Wi-Fi dash cam needs to use the Wi-Fi to access with the app. Can’t have two Wi-Fi at once connected to the phone you cannot access the dash cam, and your car,at the same time, dash cam still work, however you can’t access dash cam you have to forget your car Wi-Fi under your system systems. And you have to turn off your cellular data underneath the dash cam app. I still have issues working with Kenwood to see if we can work it out. Keep you posted. Hope this helps.

Have the Kenwood DVRA310W with rear camera. Only complaint is there should be a mass daily delete option instead of going to each hour or each day to pick and delete recorded videos .
