Chromecaster: Get Streaming TV

Web Video Cast To Smart TV

Features & Capabilities

Chromecaster lets you cast videos, photos, and music from your iPhone or iPad to your TV via Chromecast. It supports HD and 4K streaming, easy connection, full playback controls, a playback queue, and casting from Camera Roll or cloud storage (Dropbox and Google Drive).

How it works and pricing: To use, connect your iPhone or iPad and Chromecast to the same network. Some content, such as DRM protected videos from iTunes or streaming services, may not stream. The app streams only the video portion of websites. There is an optional auto renewing Premium subscription starting from USD 2.99 with a 7-day free trial; pricing varies by region and renewals can be managed in the iTunes account settings.

User Reviews

Overall, reviews are strongly negative. The most repeated issues are constant payment prompts and upgrades, unstable connections with frequent reconnections, and broad compatibility problems across devices and apps (Chromecast, Google Cast, Fire TV, Chrome, etc.). Users also report intrusive ads and upselling, plus limited functionality (unable to cast local files or photos reliably, few features beyond basic mirroring). A few mention a past lifetime payment, but most feel the app is not worth the cost. Alternatives like Google Home are suggested.
Pros
Cons
  • Frequent payment prompts and upgrades; users report paying for a lifetime purchase yet being asked to pay again or renew subscriptions.
  • Unstable connection; frequent disconnects requiring repeated reconnection attempts and it often fails to stay mirrored.
  • Limited device/app compatibility; many reviews say it doesn't work with Google Cast, Chromecast, Fire TV, Roku, Chrome, or other media apps.
  • Ad-heavy and paywall-driven experience; users feel it’s a waste of money due to ads and constant upsell.
  • Very limited functionality; basic tasks are not supported (can't cast local files, only displays photos; no robust remote control; browser feature is useless).

How it shows 4.1 starts is beyond me. Paid for a year. Not once has it worked well. It lags and disconnects even though it says it’s still casting. Do not waste your time or money on this.

I purchased the premium version, but the screen mirroring feature only works for about 10 mins before it disconnects automatically. I tried multiple times and it keeps happening. This has been a frustrating experience and feels like waste of money. Anyone can help fix it?

I paid for lifetime one time payment. I am having issues with the casting so I deleted it and reinstalled and now it wants me to pay again. What’s going on? Why would I have to repay? The app glitches and I am trying g to fix it.
