User Reviews

Reviews consistently praise Readmio for immersive audio storytelling, recording and sharing readings, and a visually appealing library with strong UI. The main drawbacks are a paywall with limited free content, occasional unexpected subscription charges, and a desire for more pictures or visuals in the stories.
Pros
  • Rich bedtime storytelling with narrations, interactive sound effects, and bedtime music.
  • Ability to record your reading and share it with family (and read aloud to distant relatives).
  • Visually appealing illustrations and cover art, with a large library of stories.
  • Good UI/UX and engaging audiobook features that appeal to both kids and parents.
Cons
  • Content is largely paywalled with many stories requiring payment, limiting free access.
  • Subscription/billing issues, including charges without clear consent or notification.
  • A number of stories lack pictures or visuals, which some kids (and parents) expect and prefer.

It has good stories, but for most of them you have to pay, and I just want to read for my girlfriend some stories, but it’s a really good app.

Readmio is very well done, from the illustrations to the narrations to the interactive sound effects and the bedtime music. Our family tries to limit our child’s exposure to screens, and I think Readmio does a great job striking the balance between sparking enough of our child’s interest when we show the illustrations to spark curiosity in the stories and showing text-only. Even with all the generative alternatives now and in the future, we think be thanking the creators of Readmio by subscribing for a long time.
