User Reviews

Brex is praised for being easy to use and improving expense workflows, with receipts auto-categorized, quick uploads, and real-time purchase alerts. However, many reviews highlight recurring issues: unreliability in submitting expenses, login/2FA instability, camera-focused receipt capture problems, slow performance and confusing navigation, and occasional data loss or drafts not saving. When it works, Brex delivers strong corporate banking and expense features, but the user experience is inconsistent due to frequent technical problems.
Pros
  • Seamless, intuitive expense management app.
  • Easy receipt capture with automatic categorization and quick upload.
  • Real-time purchase notifications.
  • Strong corporate banking features, including fast wire transfers.
  • Saves time and streamlines expense workflows.
Cons
  • Frequent reliability issues and bugs during submission (submit button often unresponsive, freezes, slow).
  • Login and 2FA instability, including sign-outs and device mismatch errors.
  • Receipt photo capture problems (focus distance, no zoom/crop, upload failures).
  • Poor UI/UX and performance (lags, navigation struggles, can't batch reports, unreadable icons).
  • Data integrity issues like receipts/memos disappearing and drafts not saving.

I’ve used a few different deficient mobile apps over the year—Concur, Expensify—but for all my complaints, I find myself longing for their sweet embrace again. This app is a train wreck. iOS sharing functionality to Brex is extremely limited, it seems completely unwilling to believe that I might dare have a receipt in PDF format, and rather than assuming an unmatched receipt might be a new expense to ingest and process, it seemingly rejects it for lack of matching. Perhaps that works better if you exclusively use their payment card rather than a personal card. When it does work in its limited capability, it’s fine. Pictures seem to be fine for receipts, for example, but those longing to long press their hotel receipts into the app will not find relief here. Off thee to the web page and actual functionality.

A fair warning as I’ve had a lot of issues with this fintech company because it’s not an actual bank. This most likely will affect your businesses access to the business funds.

This app, when it works well, is great. But it is so glitchy that I need to force close the app all the time. It shows options that I cannot select, screens that don’t change, and it just all around poor coding.
