Features & Capabilities

Phazr turns your music into a multisensory experience. This music player adds 9 visualizers that react to audio, multi-touch gestures, and device tilt while playing locally downloaded DRM-free content from your library or the Files app. Visuals are optimized for Pro Motion and HDR displays, and each visualizer has its own alternate app icon.

Haptics bring real-time vibration on devices that support Core Haptics and on compatible game controllers. Lighting on supported controllers can shift colors to the music. For safety, note a photosensitive warning: some individuals may experience seizures with certain flashing patterns; consult a physician if you have concerns before use.

User Reviews

PHazr offers stunning, immersive visuals with haptic feedback and works with local files or mic input, all without ads. However, it’s limited by streaming DRM (no Apple Music/Spotify support), a reported bug that can delete local files after playback, and the lack of background playback. Users also want more visual variety and features like shuffle mode. Overall, the app is visually impressive and accessible, especially for those with local-file workflows, but notable drawbacks center on streaming limitations, data-loss risks, and playback behavior.
Pros
  • Beautiful, immersive visuals with responsive haptic feedback
  • Supports local music files and microphone input (not required to use streaming services)
  • Accessible and inclusive, with positive notes from deaf users about tactile/visual experience
  • Free to use with no ads or in-app purchases and a polished, well-designed interface
  • AR/VR options and interactive features that enhance immersion
Cons
  • Not compatible with streaming services like Apple Music or Spotify due to DRM限制
  • Critical risk of local music files disappearing after playback (data loss) reported by multiple users
  • No background playback or playback when the screen is off
  • Limited visual variety (desire for more visuals, shuffle mode, and expanded visual options)

This is a solid music visualizer that is rendered nearly useless by one major flaw. If I have my music just stored locally in a folder on my phone in the files app, and then I choose one or more of those songs to play back in Phazr, once it’s finished playing the song(s), they’ve disappeared from the files app entirely. It seems that somehow Phazr is deleting every song I play with it, without any warning or notice or anything. So basically, if you’re using this as a music player, either be prepared to lose those files after Phazr has played them, or I guess keep duplicates of everything on your phone to replace the files that Phazr will delete. Either way, it’s a pretty significant flaw that makes the app nearly unusable for playing music that you actually want to keep stored on your phone. Someone brought up the same issue in a review from October of last year, but it appears after 5-6 months, nothing has been done to solve the problem yet. Use this app at your own risk and know in advance that if you play a song in the app, it’s probably not going to be on your phone anymore after Phazr has finished playing it. Edit: I emailed the developer about the problem, and received a response the next day, and an update that fixed the problem was released shortly after. So I can much more confidently recommend this app now.

Cute and all but it can’t to anything unless you’ve paid and downloaded the music prior or have your mic on. Not how I want to experience my music. I was seriously hoping for some that can visualize the music I’m listening to on Spotify or YouTube music with my headphones. So I don’t have to be that weirdo playing their music out loud. Really disappointed honestly.
