Features & Capabilities

MobileTmoney is Korea’s smart, all-in-one transit card for buses and subways. Use your iPhone or Apple Watch to tap and ride—no physical card, no sign-up required, and top-ups are quick via Apple Pay. Designed for travelers, it makes navigating major cities fast, convenient, and contactless.

From instant balance checks to easy top-ups and instant access on the move, MobileTmoney skips ticket machines and long lines. Compatibility requires iPhone XS/XR or later with iOS 17.2+, Apple Watch Series 6/SE (2nd gen) or later with watchOS 10.2+, and a card added to Apple Pay for top-ups. Optional permissions enable smoother support and features, while basic use remains available without them.

User Reviews

Overall, reviews praise Wallet integration and fast taps, with updates improving reliability; Apple Watch support noted; reduces need for a physical card. However, widespread barriers for foreigners—limited international card support, Korean-only authentication, language/localization glitches; frequent reliability and top-up issues, and NFC reader failures. The app is convenient when it works but frustrating for visitors.
Pros
  • Apple Wallet integration enables using T-Money directly in Wallet for transit (tap in/out, fast at gates).
  • Tapping works quickly and is comparable to Suica in Japan; updates have fixed many issues.
  • Support for Apple Watch use and top-up via watch/app flow.
  • Eliminates the risk of losing a physical card (convenience).
Cons
  • Foreigners face major top-up barriers: non-Korean cards often not supported, and SK Hyundai/Korean bank card requirements limit accessibility.
  • Language and authentication hurdles: need Korean phone number/ID; inconsistent English UI and localization issues.
  • Reliability problems persist: app crashes during setup/top-ups, funds may disappear, and NFC readers sometimes fail to read wallet cards.
  • Complex and unclear top-up flow for tourists (requires in-station machines or 'service mode'), and ambiguous refund/charge policies.
Recent reviews
Actually disappointed in this app, there’s no way to register an already owned T-Money Card as a foreigner. This is not as foreigner friendly as mentioned. I wish it were a little more lenient when trying to keep track of T-Money. I’m tired of asking my boyfriend to refill or carrying wads of cash to refill. This is not a good app… sorry. 🥲

I don't understand all the negative reviews. As a US visitor, the app was really convenient. Be aware that the only feature that works is the card itself. You can't do anything else without a T Money login, which requires a Korean bank account or Korean phone number. But that's no different than if you were to use a physical T Money card. So what's the issue? Sure, the app feels a little bloated with features you cannot use. But it functions just fine. At the end of your visit, go to a convenience store & get your money back by scanning the card. Easy. If technology is hard for you, just get a physical card. If you're like me and you want the convenience of keeping it on your phone, you'll love this.
