User Reviews

miRack is praised as a powerful, portable eurorack-style modular on iPad, offering a huge module collection, intuitive touchscreen patching, and strong MIDI/AUv3 connectivity at a compelling price. Reviewers highlight its learning potential and ability to patch anywhere. The main caveat is stability—multiple reports of crashes and occasional bugs that disrupt sessions. Some users also wish for even more modules or easier onboarding, but overall it remains a standout tool for exploring modular synthesis on the go.
Pros
  • Extensive module library (700+ modules) and a faithful eurorack feel with intuitive touchscreen patching.
  • Portable on iPad: patch anywhere and carry a full modular setup for travel, car trips, or quick sessions.
  • Strong connectivity: MIDI integration and AUv3 support for use with other gear and apps.
  • Great value for money: affordable price for the depth and features offered.
  • Educational and exploratory tool for learning modular synthesis and sound design with accessible navigation.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and stability issues, including startup crashes and patches that fail mid-session.
  • Occasional bugs/quirks (UI freezes, sample-loading issues) that disrupt workflow.

This is basically a commercial app using old code before the devs changed the licensing over at VCV Rack. I don’t think this will ever be updated with new content from the current VCV/Cardinal universe, for those reasons alone. I still love it. Glad that it exists and all. But don’t buy it though with the hopes of new content added.

A little too fiddly for my use. Even on an iPad, the controls are too small and knobs too difficult to manipulate. While convenient in theory, I think VCV on a laptop is a lot better for learning and using modular in a virtual environment.
