User Reviews

Users praise the app for practice support with recording/feedback and a large song catalog, plus instructor-assigned tasks. However, recurring issues include sign-in and verification problems, poor mobile usability and performance, inaccurate/transcribed sheet music, and occasional recording submission failures. Content concerns (slurs) and lack of printability add to the drawbacks. Overall, the positives support learning, but reliability and content quality on mobile frequently hinder the experience.
Pros
  • Recording with feedback helps practice and track progress.
  • Large variety of songs to practice with.
  • Instructors can assign songs and students can submit practice recordings via the app.
  • Generally useful for improving musical playing.
Cons
  • Frequent sign-in/registration and verification issues.
  • Poor mobile experience: unusable on phones, laggy performance, crashes, and limited printing/viewing options.
  • Inaccurate or inconsistent sheet music and transcriptions (wrong notes, typos, missing songs).
  • Recording submission can fail or get stuck loading.
  • Content safety concerns in some songs (slurs present; need for clean versions).

I don't even know where to begin. For me personally, by far the most irritating aspect of this poorly designed app is how utterly annoying it is to simply play a tab, especially on a phone. You can't have more than a single instrument track playing at once - so if a song has two guitars, bass, vocals, etc you can only hear a single isolated guitar part. You cannot hear how the two guitars work together. Oh and if you want to change the tab view to another instrument? You have to scroll all the way back to the top of the song tab and you've now lost your spot in the song. If you have a tab playing and you want to simply scroll the tab down to see what to expect next - or if you tap anywhere at all - the player instantly jumps to where you touched. This is incredibly infuriating. The tab player will only scroll through the bars at the very bottom of your screen, so you can't see what to expect next. And if you try moving down, the tab player instantly jumps to wherever you've touched and now you've lost your place. You also can't zoom in. There are constant notation errors from wrong tablature fingerings to wrong chord names. The graded assignments are a joke and are never accurate. It's a serious shame how awful this app is. I recommend teaching from either Songsterr or YouTube song tabs.

I’m an SOR student, and although it does have some songs and helpful stuff, it only had 1 of 4 songs I was assigned at SOR, so I can’t practice unless I have a sheet of written music to bring home. Overall, it can’t be that hard to fix these problems.
