Features & Capabilities

Reading PDFs on your phone is frustrating.

Tiny text, constant pinching, horizontal scrolling, multi-column layouts, and research papers that never fit the screen make even simple reading feel like work.

PDF Reflow makes PDFs and Word documents easier to read on mobile by turning them into a clean, phone-friendly reading experience. Instead of zooming in and out or dragging the page left and right, you can read documents in a natural vertical flow that fits your screen width.

It’s especially helpful for:

  • research papers
  • reports
  • manuals
  • articles
  • Word documents
  • PDFs with figures, colors, and formulas

PDF Reflow keeps the look and structure of your document while making it much easier to read on a small screen.

You can also:

  • select and highlight text
  • search inside documents
  • adjust text size up to 300%
  • show the PDF in dark mode
  • pick a PDF inside the app

If you read PDFs on your phone and hate fighting the layout, PDF Reflow is built for that problem.

User Reviews

Reviewers praise the app's strong reflow and math-friendly rendering, highlighting readability, support for two-column PDFs, and cross-platform design. However, recurring criticisms include missing bookmarks/last-read position, inconsistent reflow on many papers (sometimes cropping images or forcing horizontal scrolling), accidental deletion of source PDFs, and slow processing with poor session recall. Overall, while the tool is powerful for academic reading, reliability and data safety concerns limit its usefulness for long-term workflows.
Pros
  • Excellent reflow that makes PDFs easy to read, including support for two-column and math-heavy papers.
  • Highlighting reflowed text and clear display of images and tables.
  • Well-designed, dependable app with cross-platform use on mobile and Mac (good design quality).
  • Auto-saving/reformatted PDFs and adjustable font/layout help readability.
Cons
  • Missing bookmarks and no memory of the last read position, making it hard to resume long PDFs.
  • Reflow is not robust across many scientific PDFs, causing horizontal scrolling, cropped images, or lost content.
  • App can delete original PDFs from storage unexpectedly, risking data loss.
  • Processing can be slow and there is poor session recall, making it tedious to reopen and locate your place.

Incredible I can also highlight the reflowed pdf papers and see all images and tables perfectly

Pretty nice app but a reader without bookmarks is a pretty grave omission.

I’m a heavy academic researcher. I process 2,000 papers for CVPR each year, so I see a lot of PDF files. This app is great! It isn’t perfect - no app that does this can be — but it gets darn close. Figures are somehow segmented and presented separately, and it even works with two-column PDFs emitted by LaTeX! Well worth the asking price. There are some issues. In particular, papers under review tend to have line numbers on the margins of each line, which are sometimes relieved with the text in a way that’s hard to read. Still, I personally believe this domain isn’t really possible to self completely, and this app gets darn close
