Wifi Signal Strength Meter

Wifi Signal Strength Detector

Features & Capabilities

Wifi Meter is a Chrome extension that acts as the #1 wifi signal strength detector. It helps you identify where in your home or office the wifi signal is strongest by measuring signal strength in dBm and presenting key wifi details. With its unique technology, you can decide where to place a repeater to improve internet speed.

Main features include a Signal Strength Meter (shows strength in dBm), Wifi Details Info (provides information about your internet provider), and Device Specs (CPU, RAM, storage, SIM, and more). For feature requests, contact danierobert2019@gmail.com.

User Reviews

User reviews largely criticize the app for not delivering real WiFi signal strength readings (dBm); it often reports speeds instead, causing confusion and unreliable diagnostics. Several reviewers note inconsistent or inaccurate results, including the same speeds in different rooms or misleading latency figures. The app is plagued by aggressive ads, including full-screen popups that disrupt use. A smaller group finds it useful for identifying dead spots and planning equipment, but this utility is undermined by reliability and advertising issues. Some say the Pro version adds no value. Overall, claims, ads, and data reliability limit the app’s usefulness.
Pros
  • Helps identify dead spots and weak signal areas, useful for installers and planning equipment.
  • Allows quick testing and refreshing as you move around to verify coverage.
  • Some users report it is quick and easy to use for practical WiFi checks.
Cons
  • Does not measure WiFi signal strength in dBm; focuses on speed instead, making it misrepresent the app's purpose.
  • Intrusive, aggressive ads (often full-screen) that disrupt usage.
  • Readings are inconsistent and inaccurate, with speeds that don’t reflect actual network conditions.
  • The Pro version reportedly adds no value or features.

I dislike the minimum information given as “signal strength” the real signal strength would be a signal level in dbm and BER so local conditions due to signal strength and interference could be identified. Throughput is a great end indicator but does not help diagnose real local conditions.

It was free and I still feel like I’m owed a refund.

Being an installer of aftermarket wifi networks, this is just the tool to show me where the slow or dead spots are. Walk behind a wall and the signal drops? This is verification it’s not just the phone or laptop. It is really helpful in planning to add new equipment
