User Reviews

Users praise Monarch as an easy-to-use, all-in-one budgeting dashboard that consolidates accounts and provides clear visuals for spending and cash flow. It’s often viewed as a strong Mint alternative and good value. Recurrent drawbacks include weak investment integrations, limited data export, frequent connectivity and MFA issues, billing/cancellation friction, and awkward cash-transfer workflows that hinder automation.
Pros
  • All-in-one, consolidated dashboard that gives a clear view of finances and spending.
  • Very user-friendly and easy to use for budgeting and tracking expenses.
  • Strong account integration and a single place to review finances across services.
  • Helpful visuals and dashboards (including money-flow visuals like Sankey graphs).
  • Widely regarded as good value and a solid Mint alternative for budgeting and cash-flow management.
Cons
  • Investment/portfolio integrations are weak or incomplete (limited support for certain platforms).
  • Data export is difficult or limited, making external analysis via Excel harder.
  • Billing and subscription management can be buggy or confusing (hidden cancellation options, opaque pricing).
  • Bank connectivity/MFA-caused issues are common (accounts disconnect or require frequent manual updates).
  • Cash-transfer workflows are cumbersome (two-step transfers; limited automation/Shortcuts support).

I’m kind of irritated I got a year subscription. I do not find this intuitive. The online setup videos from monarch seem to be disconnected and meandering sales pitches instead of helpful step by step advice. I suggest you watch some of this drivel before you purchase, it might change your mind. Got bank accounts connected pretty quickly but if you have investments in something other than the big 8 they list it’s … well, I have no idea how to connect it. Bank account expenditures are automatically categorized but how do I change what they got wrong? No idea. I didn’t want this to turn into a freaking college course to set up.
