User Reviews

UCLA Mindful is praised for being a free, easy-to-use source of calming guided meditations with Diana Winston's soothing narration and multilingual options, delivering real mental-health benefits. However, multiple reviews identify recurring technical bugs, especially playback when the screen sleeps and onboarding issues, plus update-related usability changes. Some users also report content transfer problems, streaming-only sessions, and voice/pacing concerns. Overall, it's a valuable free resource with strong content, but several reliability issues and feature gaps limit consistent use until bugs are addressed.
Pros
  • Free to use with no subscription required
  • High-quality guided meditations with a calming narrator (notably Diana Winston) and positive mental-health impact
  • Easy to navigate, simple to use, and generally reliable with a variety of lengths and focus areas
  • Multilingual offerings and diverse voices improve accessibility for non-English speakers
  • Developers are responsive and have quickly fixed issues (e.g., lock-screen audio)
Cons
  • Playback stops or becomes unreliable when the screen locks or the device sleeps, including updates that alter sleep behavior
  • Get Started onboarding has errors and some videos don’t work
  • Update-induced bugs affect playback controls and overall usability (e.g., limited rewind, forced screen-on)
  • Content transfer/purchase issues on device changes and some sessions are streaming-only (no downloads)
  • Some meditations have long introductions or pacing issues and there is a desire for more voices and better pause timing

I’m having trouble with the new update, I click on the star and I can’t get favorites it only downloads it and I have no idea where it’s downloading to? Screen is not allowing me to move forward backwards unless I go to my home screen on my phone… Is anybody working with this app to see these problems? The meditations are fabulous, and I love all the features and availability to access all of them, but something is not the same as it used to be, please fix. Thank you!

Absolutely love this app. It helped me get into meditation - diana winston is also such a lovely, compassionate teacher. All of the content on here is free too! Great a la carte assortment of guided meditations you can pick from. Inspired me to take some UCLA mindful classes too. Highly recommend!
