User Reviews

Luminos Pro is praised for powerful telescope control, a smooth UI, and strong planning tools with a large star catalog. Users cite its planning capabilities, compatibility with gear, and value of ongoing updates under a subscription. However, the shift from a one-time purchase to a subscription is divisive, with paywalls for orbit/land and other features. Stability and compatibility issues (notably on iOS 16) and UI clutter, plus concerns about customer support responsiveness, are common drawbacks.
Pros
  • Excellent telescope control integration with quick setup
  • Intuitive, smooth UI and robust feature set
  • Advanced planning/imaging tools (today planner, object lists, size previews)
  • Extensive star catalog and orbit capabilities
  • Ongoing updates and perceived value via subscription (including goodwill like free upgrade passes for existing users)
Cons
  • Moving features previously purchased (e.g., orbit and land) behind a subscription paywall
  • Stability/compatibility issues: crashes, black screens, and iOS 16 compatibility concerns
  • UI clutter and difficulty saving/switching view settings
  • Perceived poor customer support / responses from developers

Six months no fixes. Lifetime memberships always feel like a trap. Satellite updates don’t work like they used to.

I have wanted UY Scuti to get some recognition since it was the largest star once, and it’s in this app! thanks a lot! I used Luminos 9 since I was little, but this may be better than what I had back then! It has a boatload of my favorite stars + ability to orbit them!
