User Reviews

The HYDROS App is praised for easy setup, cloud-based remote monitoring, and helpful alerts, with good multi-tank support and improving usability through updates. However, users frequently report major drawbacks: persistent login/authentication problems and account issues; connectivity instability after updates; confusing UI and bugs; devices not appearing or controllable; and gaps in compatibility/notifications (older devices, international numbers, no push alerts). Overall, strong ecosystem with notable reliability and UX issues that many users want addressed.
Pros
  • Easy to set up and use with intuitive controls
  • Cloud connectivity enables remote monitoring and control when you’re away
  • Alerts and monitoring features (level sensor, temperature, ATO) help keep tanks safe
  • Works well for multiple tanks and devices, with straightforward app navigation
  • Ongoing updates have improved layout and functionality over time
Cons
  • Frequent login/logout issues and mandatory reauthentication (often every 30 days) and account problems
  • Connection instability after updates; devices or powerstrips won’t connect
  • Confusing UI/ bugs; updates sometimes create new problems and poor support
  • Devices not appearing or not controllable (pump visibility/flow control) and occasional bricked hardware
  • Feature gaps and compatibility issues (older iOS devices, international numbers, no push notifications)

keep getting notifications from a sensor that was fully deleted and re-added. Really irritating and annoying cuz you think that something’s wrong and go to check your tank and nothings actually wrong. pH probe didn’t work correctly either one that came with the package was defective, won’t measure ph properly or recalibrate properly so it’s giving the wrong readings,

Since last update I'm unable to connect any wifi powerstrip. 👎🏽

This app does not feel like it was designed for end users. But rather designed by a tech person, possibly with a Windows/networking background, for a certain type of tech person. The app requires the user to log back in with username and password every 30 days. Really? Every 30 days? For some wave pumps? Seems much more like an designer’s/team’s design flex rather than practical and useful for users. The controller nearly always remains connected to the cloud. When a connection is lost for 15 mins +/- a notification from the app is displayed. Best use of this is it lets me know WiFi is being wonky. The function of the pumps are unaffected. When WiFi is down the app does allow pump connection via blue tooth. I like the products associated with the app, but the app is “meh.” Two stars. One star lost because of the GUI. An additional two stars lost because of the forced log out and reauthorization every 30 days.
