User Reviews

Reviewers praise Outplayer for PiP, strong HDR support, a simple, fast UI, a one-time purchase, and privacy/ad-free use. Repeated drawbacks include buffering/jitter on large files, lack of casting/AirPlay/Apple TV support, and several missing features (auto-next, folder search, WebDAV, remote access). Overall, it’s viewed as a reliable, value-driven player with room for feature expansion and improved streaming reliability.

  • HDR/Dolby Vision capable and broad format support
  • Simple, fast, reliable playback with a clean UI across formats
  • One-time purchase with no subscription
  • Ad-free experience and strong privacy (no user data collection)
Cons
  • Buffering and occasional playback jitter on larger files (even with good connections)
  • No casting/AirPlay/Apple TV support (missing casting; tvOS support)
  • Missing navigation/features such as auto-next, folder search, WebDAV, and remote access

much more stable than VLC media player, looks beautiful and works great!

I use Outplayer daily as my default for watching videos. It’s one of the few apps I’ve purchased the full version of and it’s easily worth the price. It collects NO USER DATA; try finding another app that doesn’t. Its only major deficiency is its inability to cast videos. With that fixed, a few minor nitpick-y enhancements would make it perfect—eg the ability to change the library folder location, view the library while watching a video in PIP, or rename multiple videos at once. I hope the creator’s still making substantive updates because it’s so close to being the best player available. Well done—
