Features & Capabilities

Cardhop Contacts uses a magical parsing engine to search, add, edit, and interact with your contacts using natural language. Type 'John G' to reveal John’s card, or 'Sarah Smith sarah@cardhopapp.com' to add her contact, or 'call Michael S' to start a call.

Features include widgets, notes, birthdays, groups, Siri Shortcuts, full accessibility, dark/light themes, and a broad set of quick actions. Cardhop Premium unlocks business card scanning, relationships across Office 365, event invites via Fantastical, and more.

User Reviews

User reviews consistently praise Cardhop’s Apple Contacts integration and flexible UX, with strong data-entry features and ongoing development. However, recurring pain points include stability issues (crashes and failed launches), cost and subscription concerns, sign-in problems, and data sync reliability. The business card scanner is a mixed bag, and Fantastical integration appeals to some but is not universal.
Pros
  • Excellent integration with Apple Contacts and syncing across iCloud, Outlook, and external servers
  • Feels more flexible and polished than the native Contacts app, with editable field names and templates
  • Powerful text and data-entry capabilities, such as easy pasting from email signatures and quick field filling
  • Ongoing development with regular updates and improvements
  • Calendar-friendly workflow through Fantastical integration for users in that ecosystem
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and launch failures across updates and beta OS versions
  • Subscription-based pricing with no one-time purchase option, perceived as expensive
  • Sign-in/sign-up issues and occasional infinite loops
  • Data syncing reliability problems (contacts disappearing, incorrect data, and misalignment with iPhone Contacts)
  • Business card scanner OCR is unreliable or inconsistent

I've used Cardhop since it was originally released. Is that over 10 years now? It has become such an integral part of my daily life that I would be very upset if it went away. The app is very well documented, has some extraordinarily advanced features that make adding contacts easier and their Customer Support support is no less than five star in terms of their responsiveness. It works, when it doesn't work, they make it work.

Can’t even manage anything with the business card without a subscription.

Thrilled that a feature request of mine from 2 years ago just got released (comma between city & state in addresses)! The Cardhop team is constantly iterating and improving and I continue to prefer the experience over the native contacts app. Keep it up!
