User Reviews

User reviews largely condemn Senville's iOS app for unreliable connectivity and setup, with some praise for its rich feature set, fast in-session response, and in-app diagnostics. The top pain points are the need for a separate Wi‑Fi dongle, discovery/setup failures, frequent disconnections, and multi-unit installation issues. A minority note the dongle enables remote access, and the app’s extensive controls can outperform Alexa, but overall reliability remains a major concern.
Pros
  • The Senville iOS app exposes a wide set of controls, more than the Alexa app for the same unit.
  • When connected, the app responds quickly to changes made from the interface.
  • Diagnostic and status information are accessible in-app, which helps troubleshooting.
  • Some users can achieve remote access after installing the USB Wi‑Fi dongle.
Cons
  • Widespread connectivity and setup failures: devices fail to discover or connect, with QR codes often not working.
  • Requires purchasing and installing a separate Wi‑Fi dongle/kit, with poor upfront disclosure about this requirement.
  • Frequent disconnections and overall instability; the app can become unusable or drop connections.
  • Difficulties adding multiple units or completing installation; loops and errors prevent setup of second unit.
  • Mixed or slow support and maintenance; some users report poor responsiveness and unclear guidance.

Network Discovery doesn’t seem to work (ffs just use nmap), manual device connection requires your network pwd? (It should not). I’d not allow my team to publish this… you shouldn’t either.

*2 types* of USB Wifi adapters! Good app, but WON’T WORK if you have the Alexa-enabled USB dongle. You need the other, nearly identical $80 USB module to use the Apple app from Senville. SENVILLE & SELLERS SHOULD *TELL YOU* THIS BEFOREHAND. Alexa app control is inferior to Senville app control. Senville iOS app has *all* the functions of their standard IR room remote (included w/ each indoor unit). The Alexa app shows less than half of these control features. [Previous review before learning this on my own: Big disappointment with app for new Aura model mini split system. Our similar old Carrier mini split app worked great. The Senville app fails to connect by any of their suggested ways. Two of us tried with 2 iPhone 14’s in 2 setting up 2G Wi-Fi correctly and set wall air handlers in AP discoverable mode. Seems like a great mini split system & IR remotes, but useless smartphone app. The indoor air handlers *DO* connect properly using our Amazon Alexa, but that has big limitations compared to controls you are supposed to get with a Senville app. ] (No, trying to use an app from Midea, does not work either.)
