SanDisk Ixpand™ Charger

I bought this product thinking this would automatically store my data (mainly photos and contacts). Even though it does, the UI is horrible with limited features and it wouldn't even show the automatic backup happening. Even when I had to restore from backup, the lack of selecting which backup to restore from is very frustrating. It is not as seemless at it may seem to operate the app and the basic backup functionality. At this point it's not even backing up properly.

It only backs up my pictures a few times and then won’t back up anymore I have to delete the app and reinstall to get it to back up a few more times There is no way to delete pictures on the device I got a new phone and it set up another folder to back up the same pictures and then the drive filled up I plugged it into my computer and tried to delete the old folders and it would not let me Reset button does not truly reset the device

Even though this wireless charger appears to be marketed as an Apple specific product, it works better and faster on android. The iPhone app will randomly decide to back up without you being able to initiate a back up. The Android version will instantly back up the phone and quickly. Maybe this is because android has looser restrictions. The app on iPhone always is checking your location whenever it could simply deactivated through a wireless charging session and being connected to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi… I know they explained the location privacy and have a disclaimer that it doesn’t track you but I’m sure it’s fine. You need the permission activated for it to work. I know there are settings to save battery capacity and prevent overcharging but my iPhone XS Max only works with the charger for a minute or two then disconnects regardless of the battery status. My iPhone X and Galaxy S8 work as it’s intended. Even my iPad can wireless backup its photos and videos besides wirelessly charging…To anybody who purchased this I recommend you do not secure your charger photos with a password if it’s just going to be you using it. If you lose that password, you will lose access to all of your photos forever. The reason there’s a passcode on the charger is because you would want to protect your files if it was shared between multiple people or you think somebody would be malicious enough to take the charger and plug it into a computer to access the files. Unless that’s the case I would not turn on the password in case you forget it. I love the charger but it’s unfortunate I can’t use it with my main phone now and it only works with my order devices I primarily use as a camera. It’s fun to have access to all of my smart phone photos through plugging the ixpand charger into my computer. Much easier than syncing phones to a Mac which doesn’t always work well. The name of this product is ironic because once again the android software and experience is so much better but at least it matches my iMac‘s keyboard and Magic Mouse, plus matches all of my other white wires. For aesthetic reasons it’s nice but it’s probably more Apple‘s fault than SanDisk but it would be nice to have another update if it’s possible to fix some of my complaints. Also I’m curious if the charger can be accessed wirelessly through SanDisk since the files are stored on a device with Wi-Fi… I’m not sure but reading the privacy policy does not seem to mention anything like that. Despite all of this I’d still recommend the charger for those who may be interested.
