User Reviews

Users praise Solfa Pro as a good beginner tool for learning to read notes and for silent/portable practice, and many consider it reasonably priced for a $4 app. However, persistent bugs undermine it: ear training crashes, unreliable MIDI support, and instrument fingering inaccuracies (notably cello). Other common issues include weak onboarding and perceived lack of ongoing developer support. Overall it’s helpful when stable, but reliability and accuracy problems limit its usefulness for serious learners.
Pros
  • Great for beginners to learn how to read notes.
  • Silent/portable practice capability (practice without sound) is convenient.
  • Reasonably priced with perceived good value for a $4 app.
Cons
  • Ear training crashes; persistent instability in the ear training feature (reported for years).
  • MIDI compatibility issues; external keyboards often skip notes or fail to work reliably.
  • Inaccurate cello fingering/notes and finger charts not matching staff notation.
  • Poor onboarding/instructions; not intuitive for beginners.
  • Perceived lack of ongoing developer support; outdated app with limited updates.

It says I get them wrong when I keep playing the right note. It recognize the sound from anywhere right away. It’s too sensitive.

“Ear Training” makes it crash and looks like this has been a problem since at least 2 years ago. 12/14/24 still crashes. This app barely limps along. Don’t pay for an old app that has no support.
