User Reviews

MusicHarbor's strongest points are its excellent release tracking, calendar integration, polished UI, and solid cross‑service integration with Apple Music and Spotify. Reviewers repeatedly praise how it helps users stay up to date on new music across many artists, and how the app presents releases cleanly with minimal clutter. However, persistent complaints focus on pricing shifts to a subscription model, limits on how many artists can be followed without paying, reliability issues like frequent crashes, and ongoing problems with Spotify/Apple Music integration and purchase restoration. These concerns detract from what many find to be a best-in-class release tracker.
Pros
  • Excellent release tracking that surfaces new singles, albums, features, and surprise drops reliably.
  • Calendar integration helps you stay up to date with upcoming releases.
  • Polished, fast UI that feels native and easy to navigate.
  • Strong cross-service integration with Apple Music and Spotify for quick listening.
Cons
  • Subscription pricing is considered too expensive, with users unhappy about switching from one-time unlocks to a recurring fee.
  • Follow limit of about 20 artists unless you subscribe; unlimited following is not available.
  • Reliability issues including startup crashes and crashes when navigating key sections.
  • Spotify/Apple Music integration issues and errors, including failed imports and sync problems.
  • Inability to restore previous purchases after pricing/model changes.

It’s hard to even try the app without paying first. Importing artists from a streaming service requires payment but that’s not clear until you grant access. Too much friction and seems too expensive until I’ve without being able to fully try it. edit: I’ve manually added some bands to follow and see that there is a paywall to see their news too. I heard that there are limits to the amount of artists you can follow until you upgrade as well. Offering a free trial might be a good option so we can test the value of the service before continuously being upsold.

Used to find this app so easy to use, but a recent update now forces me to select from various artists options before upload. The selection option appears to function like a radio-button, I can only choose 1 option. Because I listen to mostly international music there are frequently multiple name spellings for a single artist or group but I cannot select multiple options, am required to choose only 1. This forces me to perform the import artist from Spotify process multiple times to get every variant for a single artist. I’m hoping the devs do away with this feature.

$20/year for an app like this is an absolute ripoff. The service is not that involved so this price is above and beyond what it is worth. It’s too bad because it’s a pretty good app, it’s just way overpriced and the free version doesn’t let you add enough artists
