The main downsides are map failures, high service fees, app bugs, login problems, and slow support. These issues undermine otherwise strong inventory and community, so improvements in maps, billing clarity, bug fixes, and customer service would raise overall satisfaction.

Recent reviews

“Free cancellation” should mean entirely free cancellation, and not “minus hipcamp fees” (which you will only see in fine print, and not be prompted with when you book and cancel). Have had too many overpriced campsites with hipcamp that are more like refugee camps -packed tightly to other sites, overgrown with poison ivy, or promising solitude and serenity with photos of off-property features that are presented as though they are on property.
