Features & Capabilities

Tēnā koe! Nau mai, haere mai! Welcome to our Māori cultural app Ngā Pae.

We’ve created this app to be an effective resource and rallying point for you as you begin your journey to learn some important aspects of Māori culture under the mantle of Horizons Regional Council.

At Horizons Regional Council we are responsible for managing the region’s natural resources. Through doing so it’s our aim to make the region a great place to live, work and play.

We’ve included information on te reo Māori (the Māori language), tikanga (customs), whakataukī (proverbs) and waiata (songs), to help you understand more about our unique and shared cultural heritage. However, please note that some protocols differ from place to place.

This app will hopefully increase your knowledge and confidence within a Māori context, thereby increasing your comfort and effectiveness with Māori and the wider community.
