User Reviews

Reviewers consistently praise Lighter for its extensive Hue scene library and strong Philips Hue integration, and many find it fun and frequently used. However, the recurring cost is a major downside, with most advanced features locked behind a steep yearly subscription and no monthly option. Additional drawbacks include connectivity issues with Hue bridges, crashes, and battery drain from background activity. Overall, strong Hue-focused lighting experiences come at a high, opaque cost and reliability concerns.
Pros
  • Extensive library of scenes and color schemes with many options.
  • Strong Hue integration for Philips Hue lights; highly valued by Hue users.
Cons
  • Very expensive yearly subscription; no monthly option.
  • Most features are locked behind the paywall; free capabilities are weak.
  • Inconsistent Hue bridge compatibility and connection problems (including Hue Bridge Pro).
  • Crashes and stability issues.
  • Background activity drains iPhone battery.

Not only do you have to pay full price every year. You can use on only device. I wanted to use it on my iPad as well as my iPhone but no. I wish I could give you no stars . Greedy freaking criminals.

The subscription for this app is even more than other similar apps—and they have a free trial period, but this app doesn’t. If I’m going to pay this much for a subscription, I would like to know what I get with it—not just a picture of what it is. Also, there has not been an update for two years, which means a subscription is USELESS if you aren’t coming out with new features/scenes. And your app DOES NOT WORK with the new bridge pro. Don’t try to charge people a subscription if you can’t do your part.
