User Reviews

The fanSync WiFi app has moments of solid local control and benefits from SmartThings integration, but is plagued by reliability issues. Recurrent login problems, unstable WiFi connections, and broad glitches hinder daily use. Compatibility with voice assistants and some fan models is inconsistent. While some users see improvements over time, the overall experience remains tedious and underperforms relative to expectations for a premium product. The strongest positives are SmartThings/setup ease and occasional stable local control for certain fans.
Pros
  • SmartThings integration enables one-click direct WiFi setup.
  • When the app works, it provides local control of fan and lights.
  • Some reviews note the app has improved and become more solid over time.
  • Local WiFi control works for certain fan models (e.g., TriAire) when connected.
Cons
  • Frequent login/authentication issues; users can’t sign in or stay signed in.
  • Frequent WiFi connectivity problems and de-synchronization requiring restarts or re-pairing.
  • Glitchy and unreliable performance with timeouts and vague error messages.
  • Poor compatibility with voice assistants and some fan models (Alexa, Google Home, HomeKit inconsistencies; some models unsupported).
  • Antiquated installation flow and ongoing reliability problems.

Using the app I can get my fans connected to my home wifi, but the so refuses to find them.

It’s a pretty bad app. If you’re having issues, try signing in and out of the app. I was connecting from a new phone it wasn’t in the app and I couldn’t re-pair or share from my old phone to get it to show up. While troubleshooting this app I figured out the SmartThings app also connects and seems to be more reliable.

This fan is 6 years old. I have had many, many events where the sync to WiFi went offline requiring closing the app then reopening or reconnecting or signing out then logging in. Unable to dim (dimmable LED’s) bulbs ever. I am finally going to get rid of it.
