User Reviews

User reviews show some basic test-fire and group-control capabilities, but the app is plagued by unreliable Bluetooth connections, a recurring 'recycling' failure in camera mode, lack of documentation and updates (appears abandoned), QA issues like unreliable AWB/color, and missing features for a smoother workflow.
Pros
  • BT connection to the R2 trigger with quick control of flash groups and power.
  • Test-fire capability for strobes via the app.
  • Export/import of all settings for multi-camera/trigger setups.
  • Reported as usable for daily professional use on iPad by some users.
Cons
  • Unreliable Bluetooth connectivity; devices often don’t connect or lose connection.
  • Camera mode yields 'recycling' and will not fire the flash.
  • Lack of documentation/support and long-term abandonment; no recent updates.
  • Color/White Balance issues and general QA problems; inconsistent results across devices.
  • Missing major features and workflow gaps (landscape/Split View on iPad, shortcuts/scripting) and little update activity.
Recent reviews
I paired it once with the R2 trigger, but it never fired the flash, despite the actual trigger working fine with my EVOLV 200. Then it lost connection and never discovered the trigger on Bluetooth again. No recent updates. This is an abandoned app without documentation or support.

This app really doesn’t do anything and if it does, there are no instructions or help of any kind. It’s like someone thought this would be a cool idea (connect a flash controller via Bluetooth to a phone), but didn’t follow through.

Please allow iOS shortcuts and scripting in the Flashpoint R2 app. Photography is extremely time and effort intense. Small improvements have great gains. I've streamlined my shooting in the macOS arena, using scripting and plan to so with mobile devices. 2:03 PST MARCH 17, 2025
