User Reviews

StrengthLog is lauded for deep tracking, a rich exercise library with videos, flexible planning, and a solid free tier. The main drawbacks are premium pricing and features gated behind a paywall, plus occasional onboarding friction and occasional glitches as reported by some users.
Pros
  • Comprehensive workout tracking: weights, reps, PRs, warmups vs. working sets, plus mood metrics (sleep, stress, calories) to gauge progress.
  • Extensive, customizable exercise library with instructional videos; users can add their own exercises.
  • Flexible planning and templates: create programs, copy sets, and plan workouts ahead for multi‑week cycles.
  • Video demonstrations and built‑in timers between sets enhance workout execution and pacing.
  • Strong free version with substantial features and no ads, making it useful without immediate premium upgrades.
Cons
  • Premium features and data/analytics are locked behind a paid subscription, with some reviewers noting the pricing is high.
  • Onboarding can feel non‑intuitive at first for some users, requiring a learning curve to navigate effectively.

I’ve used a bunch of apps to track lifting weights and progressions. This is one of the best I’ve used. I’m 49 years old been lifting for nearly 20 years. Since using this app, I’ve hit multiple PRs. Easy to use and easy to track your progress.

Enjoying it

This app is honestly incredibly powerful and useful once you understand how it works. The amount of data, workout tracking, progression history, and customization available in the free version is genuinely impressive. The problem is that the user experience feels like it was designed entirely around the app’s internal architecture instead of around normal human workflow expectations. I just spent TWO HOURS trying to do something that should have been straightforward: - create a workout program template - schedule it on future dates Instead, I had to reverse-engineer the difference between: Programs vs Templates vs Logged Workouts vs Planned Workouts There are multiple calendar icons that do different things, workflows hidden behind unrelated menus, and destructive actions that are far too easy to trigger accidentally. At one point I accidentally deleted an entire workout template because the app did not clearly communicate the scope of the action I was taking. The functionality IS there. That’s what makes this so frustrating. The underlying system is actually strong. But the discoverability and workflow logic create unnecessary cognitive overload. By the end of this process, I literally had a headache. This app could easily be a 5-star experience with: - clearer workflow relationships - better onboarding/discoverability - safer destructive action prevention - improved scheduling integration - and more intuitive navigation There’s an amazing product buried under the UX chaos.
