User Reviews
Pros
- Basic remote control of GVM lights via the app when a connection can be established.
- Master/slave control across multiple lights is available in some setups.
- Basic color/brightness control is possible once connected.
Cons
- Frequent connectivity failures; the app often cannot connect to the lights or sync.
- Requires ad hoc Wi‑Fi networks and is not Bluetooth-based; switching networks is burdensome.
- Inability to reliably control multiple lights at once; master/slave and per‑light channels are inconsistent or not supported.
- Poor UX/UI and lack of guidance; outdated interface, confusing controls, and minimal troubleshooting help.
- Inconsistent behavior across devices (e.g., some devices connect while others don’t; login/registration quirks).

I own three GVM 800D lights. I was not able to get this app to sync with any of them. I can't tell you how great the app is as a remote for the lights because it simply won't connect to them. It's garbage. The lights seem to work just fine except for the fact that the app will not connect to them. This app is worthless.

It might seem like a First World problem that I can’t just get up and switch the lights on and off manually, but because of where my lights are positioned it’s very, VERY inconvenient to do so. If only this app were a reasonable alternative. It’s not.
Instructions for my lights say that the app should have a Switch Device setting option. It doesn’t. There’s a channel selector, but apparently that’s not relevant to my lights, so why does that appear? And there’s a headset icon that, when tapped, just locks up the app for 30 or so seconds.
Of course, I echo the complaints of other reviewers: it’s extremely frustrating that each light needs to be on a separate ad hoc network to be controlled. I’ll go further and say that it’s ridiculous for these lights to be controlled over an ad hoc network instead of by Bluetooth. Changing networks three times to simply turn them on and return to my Internet connection (and doing it again to turn them off) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Finally, let me just suggest to the developer that they pay a small stipend to somebody for whom English is their first language and clean up the app.

The app’s interface is absolute garbage and so is the Wi-Fi connection feature to connect to the light. While I’m able to connect to one light, there is no way to connect to multiple lights. Other reviews have pointed out the same thing and I was hoping that this issue had been fixed. The app shows different channels, but there is no way to set the lights to a specific channel and have them all connect since they each have their own Wi-Fi signal. I’ve also heard. About being able to slave the other lights to the master, but the lights that I purchased don’t have any kind of mode button or a way to know which one of the three lights is a master.. If you just bought these lights and can return them, do it and save yourself the headache.
