Word Reading Magic helps your child gain practice and proficiency in decoding (reading) words.
This app focuses on the skill of learning to read single short-vowel words with three phonemes. This app focuses on CVC (consonant - vowel - consonant) words, such as cat, leg, pig, box, and sun. Word decoding is what most people call “reading.”

This app will help your child become proficient at reading CVC words.

Decoding is the child’s ability to use their skill of letter/sound connections (the alphabetic principle) along with the ability to combine the distinct and separate sounds into a single word (blending). Seeing the letters c and a and t on the page, the child must first be able to sound out each individual sound of each letter. Then the child needs to transform the /c/ and the /a/ and the /t/ from three distinct and separate sounds into the single word cat. Words are the building blocks of sentences. If your child is having a difficult time reading words, then your child will have a difficult time reading sentences. Fluent and effortless word reading comes with practice.
