Features & Capabilities

Penn State Health OnDemand brings board-certified providers to you for urgent clinical care via telehealth. Access adult and pediatric care from your mobile device or computer, often in about 10 minutes. Simply download the app, register, and choose a provider to start a virtual visit—often at a lower cost than urgent care or emergency rooms.

This telehealth program covers common symptoms such as allergies, cough, eye infections, joint or back pain, skin concerns, painful urination, sore throat, and nasal congestion. If you use Apple Health, you can share vitals with the provider during your video visit. Note that not all concerns are appropriate for telehealth; seek emergency care for chest pain, severe shortness of breath, confusion, or other urgent symptoms.

User Reviews

Users praise the app for convenience, quick access to care, and compassionate providers, with telehealth visits easily fitting into their schedules. However, reliability issues (crashes/not opening) and login/authentication friction, plus data continuity problems (notes/referrals not reliably saved) and some UX flaws, are the most recurring drawbacks. Overall, care quality and convenience are strong, but stability and seamless data handling need improvement.
Pros
  • Very convenient and time-saving; reduces travel, waiting, and stress.
  • Fast access to care with telehealth visits, often avoiding urgent care.
  • Compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough doctors and staff.
  • Easy-to-use app with straightforward telehealth flow and home-based visits.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes on login and the app sometimes won’t open.
  • Login/authentication friction, including password management and auto-fill/keychain issues.
  • Notes and referrals don’t always get saved to the medical chart, hindering continuity.
  • Unintuitive UX at times with an awkward flow and many questions.

So convenient better than making an appointment the old fashion way push button for this and that and with this …the health provider is sitting there waiting on you and not the other way around… my time is precious and this is service values my time, life and cuts down on my stress and having to travel some where and wait around other people that may be contagious, etc. Thank you so very much. I will be back if I need the service again and tell others about it too..

App crashes every time you load it to log in. Apparently it’s been happening for a month and no one cares to fix it.
