Scriptable is an iOS automation tool that lets you write JavaScript to access native iOS features—files, calendars, reminders, contacts, photos, location, pasteboard, and more—so you can automate everyday tasks with code. It supports extensive widget capabilities, letting your scripts run on the Home Screen as customizable widgets that display data on demand. You can also connect Scriptable with Siri Shortcuts to present content in Siri, read text aloud, and drive complex automations through voice.

Scripts can work with files from other apps via File Bookmarks, synchronize across devices with iCloud Drive, and be shared or exported easily. The editor includes autocomplete for variables, functions, and properties, and the app offers a large gallery of example scripts, offline documentation, and a robust docs site (docs.scriptable.app) for learning all native APIs. You can run scripts from URL schemes, share sheets, notifications, and even on the Lock Screen, with support for dark mode and customizable editor.

Recent reviews

Really simple interface and I’m really liking that I can preview the results of the script within the app before I add a widget to my Home Screen. My only complaint so far is that the refresh rate is limited to the rate that an iPhone refreshes widgets so animation are clunky, but that’s not a fault of the app. I haven’t done much more than setup a Pipboy style display for the date and weather.
