User Reviews

The NHS App shows value by consolidating records and easing access for the elderly, but users repeatedly report major reliability and usability problems: difficult login, inconsistent appointment booking, poor GP support contact, invasive identity checks, and failing health data integration (including Apple Health and COVID passes).
Pros
  • Consolidated medical records (medications, test results, consultations) accessible in one place, including PDFs, which is especially helpful for elderly users.
  • Onboarding can be quick and straightforward for some users (e.g., quick setup for an elderly relative).
  • App appears to integrate information across multiple backend systems to bring records together.
Cons
  • Poor, inconsistent user experience and login flow: multi-step sign-in, frequent UI changes, endless loops, and screens that bounce you to external sites.
  • Unreliable appointment booking: 'no appointments available' messages, options that disappear or change, and difficulty in scheduling online.
  • Lack of easy contact with GP or support: no phone numbers in the app, poor in-app messaging, and reports that messages aren’t read.
  • Privacy and identity verification demands are overly intrusive: requests for full personal details, passport copies, and even video verification.
  • Data syncing issues and health integrations: test results/prescriptions stop syncing; Apple Health/Wallet integration and COVID pass export often fail.
Recent reviews
This app is absolutely pathetic. If you click (while logged in) on “make an appointment,” it says “there are no appointments available, please contact your GP.” Ok, not great, but fair enough, so you’d think that they would provide the telephone number to contact your GP… nope. If you navigate over to your GP information, guess what? No phone number! The app says “ask a question to your GP”! So you click on that and it brings up a long disclaimer screen saying they are going to pass along all your private information to a third party! Come on, guys! You can a lot better than this! Online appointments save everyone time and save the NHS money. Having this app adds no value over walking over to your GP and queueing whenever you need anything.

Doesn’t connect with apple health unfortunately we are lagging behind here. Nice to have my test results, but it’s time consuming to manually transfer data to the health app.
