User Reviews

Overall, users praise Guitar Tab Maker as beginner-friendly and fast for creating and sharing tabs. The app shines with a simple, tap-based fretboard input, easy editing and playback, and a solid free feature set that suits casual players or band rehearsals. Many also appreciate quick saving and cross-device access to saved tabs. However, reviewers repeatedly note gaps for advanced notation (hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, harmonics, muting), limited printing/export options, and a paywall after a small free quota. Other tweaks include tuning changes and a cleaner UI. It’s practical with room for growth.
Pros
  • Easy to use / beginner-friendly interface.
  • Tap-based fretboard input for quick tab creation.
  • Free base feature set is sufficient for many users.
  • Playback and editing capabilities for checking and adjusting tabs.
  • Easy sharing/collaboration of tabs with bandmates.
Cons
  • Lack of advanced notation features (hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, harmonics, vibrato) and muted strings.
  • Printing/export options are limited; no batch export and saving/organization can be unclear.
  • Paywall after a small number of free tabs; perceived poor value.
  • Tuning changes are limited (difficulty changing tunings, e.g., drop D).
  • UI/UX and learning curve issues (unintuitive interactions, nomenclature not explained).

I was very pleased with this app because i couldn’t find anything else on the app store that encompassed exactly what k needed it to do like this one, but unfortunately it seems like somehow several of the tabs i made before today just disappeared from the app entirely.

It’s barebones in a good way. Does all you need for free. I didn’t even know there was a paid version. You can write tabs and save them. Pretty cool
