Features & Capabilities

LibTerm is a command line interface for iPhone and iPad that brings a rich set of UNIX-like commands to iOS. It includes tools for coding in C, Python, and Lua, and features a graphical editor with syntax highlighting via the 'edit' command.

Code, script, and run directly on iOS using clang, lli, Python 2.7/3.7, Lua 5.3, and other utilities. Install third-party commands, compile and run C code, and perform shell tasks with familiar commands and remote-access tools like ssh and telnet.

User Reviews

LibTerm offers basic SSH and simple command execution on iOS, but it lacks essential terminal features, has inconsistent SSH behavior, and shows signs of neglected maintenance. Users report bugs (crashes, UI glitches) and want more features (themes, preloaded commands). Overall, it’s usable for light tasks but not a reliable full-featured terminal.
Pros
  • SSH support is available for remote connections.
  • Can run basic commands and network checks (e.g., ping and curl).
  • Generally useful for lightweight tasks and quick checks on iOS.
Cons
  • Lacks essential terminal features and editors (no tab/keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl/Alt, no vim/nano, no man pages).
  • SSH experience is inconsistent or buggy (SSH keys handling, inability to change port, UI glitches during SSH).
  • Maintenance and support appear limited (last update over a year ago, difficulty contacting the developer).
  • Stability issues and bugs (bus errors on DNS queries, UI glitches such as a white screen, command-parsing bugs).

Why y’all website being directed to some casino thing website? No judgment but I don’t have the time or £¥₽¢€₩ to waste on gambling Plus I want to program instead

I used to use iSH, but that dev just gave up the ghost at some point and decided they DGAF anymore, so we’re all just out of luck. So I picked up this, thinking perhaps it would be my salvation for all my broken workflows… Who makes a terminal that lacks the regular term keys that one needs? Where are the tab, ctrl, alt, Function keys, etc.? This app may have ssh, which makes it one star better than what I have rated iSH, but if I can’t do the other term-y things that I need to do, this is unfortunately no good to me.
