User Reviews

LED Hue has strong feature depth but suffers from major reliability and usability problems. Users frequently report connectivity failures, difficult device discovery, and unstable Bluetooth. Color control is confusing or flawed, with mis-mapped colors and flicker issues. There is a notable lack of grouping/renaming options, making multi-light setups painful. Updates appear infrequent, and several bugs persist, including lights staying on or requiring restarts. Overall, the app offers rich options but remains plagued by stability and UX issues.
Pros
  • Extensive customization options and many animation slots for colors and effects.
  • Support for scenes, playlists, and holiday/group setups (conceptually) within the app.
  • Some users report the app works well or great when it connects, indicating solid functionality when stable.
  • The app provides a broad set of settings and controls for LED lights.
Cons
  • Chronic connectivity issues: devices not found, constantly stuck on 'connecting', Bluetooth reliability problems.
  • Color selection and mapping problems: color picker shows numbers, missing/or mis-mapped colors (e.g., orange missing, white/green swaps), some colors cause flicker or freeze.
  • Lack of multi-light control and grouping: difficult to control multiple lights together, rename lights, or set up groups.
  • Bugs and stagnation: frequent bugs, has not been updated for years, and users report needing restarts or workarounds to use the app.
  • Other reliability issues: lights stay on/off incorrectly, brightness controls or bottom color settings get stuck, and power options are limited or absent.

LED Hue is a poor quality app to connect your led lights to because for me it won’t connect. It will say connecting but then it doesn’t connect, I even check my bluetooth settings and it shows connected but it won’t connect to the app
