The RedVision iOS app is plagued by Bluetooth instability, limited data/history, and settings that don’t persist. A fragmented experience with a separate Configurator app further hurts usability, and updates frequently disrupt functionality, despite praise for the hardware quality and initial reliability.

Pros

RedARC hardware is solid; internals work great and the controls are intuitive.
The Configurator app works well (distinct from this app) and complements the system.
When it was functioning, the system provided useful battery state of charge and solar data for monitoring.

Cons

Unstable Bluetooth connectivity with frequent disconnects and endless reconnect loops, often requiring power cycles.
Limited data access: only daily solar data with short history (8 days of solar production) and no hourly solar data.
Settings do not persist between sessions (units often revert from Fahrenheit to Celsius on reopen).
Fragmented ecosystem requiring a separate Configurator app and poor integration between apps, leading to frustrating connectivity issues.
Post-update instability: updates can break features or disrupt connection, making the app unreliable.

Recent reviews

The frustration this thing creates is actually worse than if it didn’t exist at all. It baffles me how a technology company can get something like Bluetooth pairing so horribly wrong. It simply does not work. I have cheap Bluetooth speakers that can hold their connection better than this. A stick of wood would probably hold a Bluetooth connection better than this

Please improve the reliability of the Bluetooth connection. It's the worst out of all the devices and connections I have. Constantly have to re-pair the device or restart my phone. Running latest app version and iPhone 15 pro.
