Features & Capabilities

Anura Lite is an AI-powered wellness app that uses your mobile device camera to perform contactless health assessments from a 30-second video selfie. It provides outputs such as heart rate, irregular heartbeats, respiration rate, heart rate variability (HRV), stress index, and BMI. The app is quick, private, and free to use, designed to help you stay aware of your general wellness without contact sensors.

Powered by Transdermal Optical Imaging (TOI) and the cloud-based DeepAffex AI engine, measurements are encrypted and not stored as video images. This tool is for wellness awareness and is not a substitute for medical advice. Works best on iPhone 6s and newer.

User Reviews

Users appreciated the app for offering BP readings and heart-rate data, plus other health insights, especially when the feature worked or was accessible for free. However, the core BP feature was removed in updates, prompting widespread frustration and accusations of bait-and-switch. Many reports describe stability and reliability problems—stuck splash screens prompting updates, sign-in/Profile issues, and occasional failures to scan or load history. Several reviewers note readings can be inaccurate or inconsistent, and complain about missing features like history tracking and Apple Health integration. Overall, value was high when features existed, but core functionality and reliability have severely diminished.
Pros
  • Blood pressure readings (non-medical) were provided, a core feature many users valued.
  • Heart rate monitoring and other health insights.
  • Usability and accessibility; easy to use and useful overall.
  • Readings often compared favorably to cuff measurements (some users found it surprisingly close).
  • Free access / provided a useful health monitoring tool for remote areas (at least at times).
Cons
  • Blood pressure feature removed without notice; many users regard as bait-and-switch.
  • Reliability issues: app fails to scan, lock up, update loops, sign-in problems, duplicate profiles.
  • Inaccuracy and inconsistency in BP readings; lighting required; readings not trusted.
  • History data view / Apple Health integration not working or missing.
  • Some reviewers viewed the app as scammy or misleading in its marketing or business practices.

The mystery of why the app removed the blood pressure feature has finally been solved. I just saw a BBC report on a show about new tech and they featured a mirror that had this exact same app built in. When I say exact, I mean exactly, because when the mirror did the facial scan, it was completely the same as the scan here and with the missing blood pressure. So, the company took an app that probably would've sold for a few dollars and built it into an expensive mirror which is being sold as a mirror that gives you a read out on your health, but as I said, it doesn't do anything more than this app already does or did. I consider that a borderline scam and something that removed the possibility of an app that could've benefited so many in favor of this gimmicky mirror, kind of shameful really. what is the point of a bloody mirror when they already had an app that you could carry in your pocket and bring it anywhere. Oh man oh man. Oh yeah, it's called the MagicMirror.

I thought blood pressure readings were included in the vital signs this app measures.
