This time last year I dreaded medications time! I have Alzheimer’s disease as well as other ailments. I would spend an hour preparing my weekly pill pac container. After a very stressful morning of counting & recounting pills I searched for a better way! HERO came up & I was intrigued. Cost was an issue though.
The next week my son-in-law asked me what wanted for Christmas. I showed him the information. And told him about my counting nightmares. Then gave him the link.
I still have a few meds(7) I have to count out each week. Capsules do not play well with my Hero. But 10 meds are dispensed by my Hero! He even reminds me when it’s time to take all of them!
Thanks to HERO I’m not in tears each week over filling a pill-pac each week!

I’ve been a Hero user for about 8 years and while at first it is a great device, as the years wore on, the darn thing has just about stopped working and Hero refuses to send me a new one. As well, about every six months they charge my card an exorbitant fee and I have to reach out to them to get it refunded. It gets tiring. Unfortunately I’ve become so in the habit of using it it’s become a staple and there’s really no other options except to go back to the ole serve yourself style. Silly to gripe about a device that is designed to be helpful but this thing is worn out and dealing with the fee issue is getting aggravating.

This app and service have been life-changing for our family. Makes it so much easier to monitor whether our teenager is taking their medications twice per day and has accordingly decreased stress levels all around. The app seems to work well. The only (relatively small) issue in terms of the app’s effectiveness is that notifications through the app to other adult family members aside from me (I’m the primary accountholder) are not consistent, if our kid misses a dose.
