Features & Capabilities

Microsoft Whiteboard provides a cloud-based, freeform canvas where individuals and teams can ideate, create, and collaborate in real time. It supports touch, pen, and keyboard, with ink that becomes shapes, the ability to add sticky notes or a notes grid, and real-time multi-user editing across devices. Reactions let teammates give quick feedback, and everything stays saved in the cloud for seamless resumption.

New features focus on performance and a modern UI, including a creation gallery, 40+ templates, and an expanded shapes and lines library. Apple Scribble on iPad with Apple Pencil converts ink to text, and ink arrows aid diagramming. Across devices, teams stay on the same page with automatic saving and real-time collaboration.

Users praise Microsoft Whiteboard for collaboration and pen-based writing, but reports are dominated by reliability and UX problems: frequent crashes, laggy input, login/auth issues, missing features, and iPad-specific UI bugs. When it runs, it can be a strong educational and collaborative tool; otherwise, instability severely hinders daily use.
Pros
  • Strong collaboration features and a feature-rich board
  • Pen/stylus support for handwriting and drawing on iPad
  • Cross-device accessibility across platforms
  • Useful for taking school notes and problem-solving
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and freezes, with unresponsive touch input
  • Login/authentication problems and sign-in flow instability
  • Performance issues: lag, slow input, and sluggish UI
  • Missing features and limitations (e.g., cross-tenant sharing, color options)
  • iPad-specific UI glitches and keyboard/panel issues

I got this app and i am 10 years old and when it got done downloading it asked me for my email address which I don’t have one and I needed this app for stick nodes aka an app that I got like maybe 4 or 6 days ago and I’m very good at animating things so back to Microsoft whiteboard and then I went to ask my mom what is my email address and she said that I didn’t have one so that’s why this app sucks totally DONT RECOMMEND THIS APP AND THEY SAY THIS IS 4+

This is an okay app there are a lot of features to it. However it has an extreme delayed response to touch. Additionally there are instances where the whole platform freezes and crashes. When using the ruler option, it erases half of what you have already written.
