User Reviews

CityRow provides a motivating rowing and fitness experience with a broad class lineup and strong instructors, delivering effective full-body workouts. Recurrent drawbacks include fewer live classes, persistent app/rower connectivity issues, and some repetition across workouts, along with price/value and feature gaps. Users want more variety, clearer class details, scheduling, captions, and better music/analytics, but many remain loyal for the coaching, community, and hardware integration.
Pros
  • Wide variety of classes with engaging, skilled instructors
  • Effective full-body workouts that improve fitness and motivation
  • Encouraging coaching and supportive community
  • Strong hardware integration: app connects to the rower and City Row Go; works even when not using the rower
  • Long-term value and loyalty: many users rely on CityRow for workouts since the pandemic
Cons
  • Fewer instructor-led classes recently; more scenic rows reduces perceived value
  • App connectivity issues with the rower after updates; pairing problems on iOS/Android
  • Some classes feel repetitive with similar exercises across sessions
  • Pricing/value concerns given the amount of content and fewer new instructor-led classes
  • Missing features: Strava integration, in-app music control, closed captions, and scheduling options

Post partum I have limited time and less ability to do high impact workouts. CITYROW gives me a heck of a workout in a condensed time with no aggravation of my injuries. Love CITYROW!

Can’t tell you how much I enjoy all the classes. Had a rower & did not use it very often as I thought it was boring. Then I found CITYROW. I love the variety of classes & the instructors. There is something for everybody. Thank you CITYROW! Especially during the pandemic - you helped me to keep mentally & physically fit!

I have been a subscriber for over 3 years and in this time the number of new instructor-led classes has dropped significantly each week and replaced with “scenic rows”. 3 years ago I would have given a 5 star rating as the instructors and individual classes are good (well, most of them) but now I’m paying the same or maybe slightly more in annual fees for significantly fewer instructed classes. Am looking for other app options with more fun and motivational content.
