Features & Capabilities

GPS Race Timer lets you measure acceleration times such as 0–60 mph, 60–120 mph, and 1/4 mile using only your iPhone's GPS — no extra hardware required. Timers start automatically when the target speed is reached or a start is detected, and everything can be configured while stationary.

Save runs locally, export data, and transfer to other devices. The app offers preset timers (60 ft, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 0–60 mph, 0–120 mph, 50–75 mph, 60–120 mph, 0–100 km/h, 0–200 km/h, 80–120 km/h, 100–200 km/h). The free version supports up to two timers per run; a PRO in-app purchase unlocks up to four parallel timers, elevation precision, a Sportsman start, and ad-free usage.

User Reviews

GPS Race Timer is praised for its simple, user-friendly interface and its basic speed readouts, including 0-60 timing, which makes it suitable for casual car testing. However, many reviews report reliability problems: the timer often fails to start recording or shows blank results, and measurements can drift (0-60 timing off by roughly 0.8 seconds). Users also cite compatibility issues with newer iPhones/OS versions and bugs like a non-working reset. Overall, it's easy to use and handy for quick checks, but reliability and accuracy under real conditions are major concerns.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a simple interface.
  • Provides speed readings and 0-60 timing with current and top mph.
  • Casual-friendly and suitable for quick car testing rather than professional racing.
  • Offers customization options for different use cases.
  • Calculates speed and max feet.
Cons
  • Frequent failure to start recording or auto-start the timer.
  • 0-60 timing is off and measurements drift (e.g., ~0.8 seconds).
  • Compatibility issues on newer iPhones/OS versions.
  • Bugs like reset button not working and blank results (sometimes requires reinstall).
  • Reliability is inconsistent across runs; often unusable for multiple attempts.

I tried using my app on my iPhone SE, but can’t scroll down to one of the buttons at the bottom

The app is cool, it tracks speed and 0-60 and so on. I have an actual draggy and it said 3.8 0-60 on my draggy but on the APP it said 4.6 so whatever time you get subtract around 0.8 seconds. I know it’s hard to track a cars speed, especially a slow to quick speed through GPS and satellites so I give it props for giving me a close time but it’s a bit off and that’s fine.

Does not want to work for me. The reset button does nothing you have to go in and hit race time all over again leaves your speed settings on screen the 60 foot timer starts while you’re still setting still pretty much aggravating and useless.
