Poplin: Laundry Service

Ordered a wash-and-fold through this app and it turned into a multi-day nightmare. My order was picked up ahead of schedule, and then never delivered. I was told (after two days of begging for updates) the contractors car had been towed, then a day later it had been towed with my clothes inside, then by the end of the week that there was no contact with the contractor and my order had been stolen. Everytime I reach out (and I mean daily, sometimes hourly) I got a different AI bot response, which then sometimes went to an outsourced live chat, which then sometimes escalated to an email thread. Every one of those avenues had a repeated script of “your case is escalated and prioritized.” No one gave me a real timeline, no one could tell me what happens if a contractor steals your order. There’s no local backup, no phone support, and no one with authority to solve any problems or offer resolution. Eventually, I had to build my own itemized list of everything lost (over $1,500 worth), and was told that the best they could do was $450 cash and a $50 credit if I signed a liability waiver which requires I never publically speak about the company or my experience with them. If your order goes smoothly this app is probrably fine. But there is zero contingency plan if anything goes wrong and you’re fully at the mercy of whichever contractor you happen to get. I wouldn’t risk anything you actually care about.

Poplin has been a lifesaver for our house. Our washer/dryer broke down right when work got busiest for my husband and I, and finding a laundromat that fit our schedule and budget was its own headache.
