User Reviews

Pocket Rogues is praised for its dev-driven updates and solid roguelike depth, with diverse classes and addictive gameplay that keeps players coming back on mobile. However, regional restrictions on the ultimate edition, several bugs affecting progression, and feedback about reduced difficulty or repetitive aspects temper enthusiasm. Overall, a high-quality mobile roguelike with room for polish and content growth.
Pros
  • Dev is clearly passionate and actively updates the game, with frequent improvements.
  • Strong roguelike gameplay with a wide class system and varied mechanics.
  • Highly enjoyable, addictive, and has strong replay value—top mobile RPG for many players.
  • Good mobile-friendly pacing: not too fast, well-suited for touchscreens.
Cons
  • Ultimate Edition/region restrictions block US players from purchasing, frustrating regional availability.
  • Bugs and stability issues: gear and pets disappearing after loading; occasional attack glitches that hinder play.
  • Balance/difficulty concerns: some simplifications reduce challenge and players want more content or harder modes, with some repetitive elements.

So to start I’ve been playing for about two or three weeks and I’ve never given them a dime. I was considering buying the ultimate version of the game because I was having a pretty solid time with it and now I’m not sure it’s worth it. I was able to grind out enough premium currency to get the class I wanted to play and then focus on that class and just accept that I would lose a lot. I was able to get a good run going finally get a couple of decent equipment. I had to pause the game and put my iPad into sleep mode where the game crashed I think and when I started the game up again, everything was gone. And a game where you can dive many times in order to just get one run that works kind of well that’s a problem and to add salt to the wound. I got a reminder that in the ultimate edition, you can save the game and come back to it. And I think that is my biggest problem here you have to pay real money in order to have a basic save feature so that when the game hiccups you might not lose everything. Basic game design should indicate that if your game is not stable enough to come back from being paused, and the device being put into a sleep mode without ruining the players experience that the same function should not be a premium cost. Of course I’ve seen the micro transactions for more premium currency to unlock more things. So not only would you need the ultimate edition for basic functionality of the game not even getting into the basic internal mechanics that do not work without premium currency unless you pay them for the ultimate. I don’t have any faith that this games ultimate edition will be worth it because I truly believe that this game is designed solely as a cash grab. Disappointed I thought there might’ve been something here and I was almost ready to give them some money until I realized that they monetary guided even basic saving functions to a game that cannot run proper. This is a huge problem in this kind of game where you’re doing a rogue light your character has one life and lives and dies based on the equipment they’re able to find. To lose everything you’ve worked for because the game itself for God that you had a run going is so disheartening that I don’t know that I’m going to play anymore. You have been warned
