User Reviews

OnSong 2026 is valued for its robust library, easy set-list organization, and team-sharing, plus import support and long-standing reliability. But users repeatedly report bugs, unreliable transposing, a subscription-heavy pricing model, a clunky UI, and flaky sharing across devices. Overall, the depth of features is admired, yet execution and cost concerns drive dissatisfaction and push some to seek alternatives.
Pros
  • Centralized library and easy set-list creation for live gigs
  • Team sharing / beam capabilities with other OnSong users, keeping music in one place
  • Long-standing, trusted app used by musicians for many years
  • Robust import/format options (text/pdf) and song formatting capabilities
Cons
  • Frequent bugs, glitches, and crashes, especially after updates, with performance issues during gigs
  • Unreliable transpose/key changes; changing keys often doesn't work and capo is a workaround
  • Subscription pricing and feature gating; many users feel the cost is high and incompatible with a one-time purchase model
  • Clunky, non-intuitive UI with difficult navigation and buried options
  • Sharing/sync issues within teams; beaming to other devices often fails or doesn't propagate

The only thing that keeps me using OnSong is the ability to change my Helix. The ability to communicate with my team is spotty. Keys change without warning. The ability to change key sometimes unavailable and using the capo function is the only way to change key. I had hoped the new version would be better but I don’t think it is

It gets the job done but it is a chore to set up set lists or move songs around. It would be way better if you could click on a song and then have a drop-down option to add that song to each set list you wanted. It’s not very user friendly at all but it’s what I have.

Changing keys doesn’t always work, capo; backups. It’s all so clunky and so 2002. You need to look at your backend and see if it can support all of the extras you’re trying to add onto it.
