User Reviews

Users praise the app for fast ASCII conversion, high quality and scalable results, and convenient sharing (including iMessage). However, recurring issues include output and text preservation problems when exporting or copying to other apps (line breaks, spaces collapsing, wrapping), confusion around saving as text vs image, occasional image distortion or stretching, and a lack of accessible support or help. Some want more settings. Overall, the app is fun and impressive, but reliability and formatting consistency need improvement.
Pros
  • Fast ASCII conversion
  • High-quality ASCII art that scales well when enlarged
  • Fun and creative to use
• Easy sharing options, including iMessage extension
  • Lightweight, quick performance
Cons
  • Text export/copy-paste formatting issues (spaces collapse, line breaks/wrapping)
  • Confusion around saving as text vs image (.txt vs .png)
  • Image distortion/stretch for some photos
  • Lack of accessible support or help (no in-app contact or FAQ)
  • JPG export can produce artifacts or loss of formatting when copying text

I tried saving it as a .txt file as offered in the save menu but it still saved it as .png. It does its job at converting pictures but when I tried to copy and paste to a Text Edit document it became distorted. This can happen if the font does not use the same spacing for all characters but even when I played around with the fonts and the view size I couldn’t get the picture to resolve correctly. It would help if it would save as text with an adequate line length (I think mine was wrapping) and evenly spaced font. It will save correctly as a .png file but the whole idea behind ASCII art is you can save it as text and see a picture. You also can’t crop to a select area.

Just confused why copy from txt and paste - results are not as expected. Too distorted, not sure if wrong line feeds? When exporting as picture (PNG Format) looks great.
